Just when you think fares couldn't go any lower, they have.

Puerto Vallarta is the most popular foreign destination for gay Bay Area travelers and it's been a lot time since it's been so cheap to fly there.

It will run you an astounding $235, roundtrip, including all taxes and fees to go to Puerto Vallarta from SFO.   I found that fare recently on US Air.   The only catch is that it is not nonstop.   You will have to stop over in Phoenix.   That means the flight that would normally run a little more than three hours, will take about six.    If you want a nonstop, I found flights for as little as $301.   That's a great bargain.   Over the summer, I paid more than $500 for the same flight.   We can thank lower fuel costs and competition from Mexicana Airlines for the lower fares.    By the way, let me plug Mexicana.   They provide great service.   No charge for food and no charge for booze, in coach!
