The Peterborough Chamber of Commerce sponsored its annual "Peak into Peterborough" event on Saturday, Oct 17th. Depot Square Park, located in downtown Peterborough was the epicenter for many of the displays. There was live music provided by the local band "The Lunatic Fringe", a "pizza tasting" tent that featured some of the local pizzerias items. I was most interested in a demonstration of basket making by Master Basket Maker Walter Hood of Peterborough Basket Company, a company that has been in business for 155 years.
I was traveling with my dump partner and his four year old son so we visited the "Enchanted Forest" a tour created for young children as a fund raiser for the Pine Hill Child Center. Faeries would lead the children through a tour of different stations with nursery rhyme themes. Our little participant was a little shy but he was pleased with some of the prizes that were handed out, especially a sheep with real wool and clothespin feet.
Every town takes a turn with a harvest or autumn festival, this Saturday, New Ipswich will be having it's 2nd annual Autumn Festival at Memorial Park (Rain date Sunday Oct 25th).
