In spite of some clouds, wind and cool temperatures the first New Ipswich Green Center flea market was a success. Nine vendors set up their tables with household goods, books, clothing, furniture and anything else they could  think of. I was among the sellers and could not understand why no one would buy my broken chainsaw or plastic skull that I made as a teenager. However it was nice meeting folks as they as they arrived  searching (and sometimes finding) bargains.

The Center received $290 from donations for the vendor spots and sales of some of the Green Center items. This money will be used to defray the heating and lighting cost so the center can be operational year round (Saturdays 9am-12noon).

The Goddard family  had a particularly large selection of items. The had bins of children's wear sorted by age, homemade breads, and a variety of household items. The unusual thing about their sale was that the items had no sale price.  The family was asking in  lieu of payment a donation for the quadruplets that were born into the family on Sept 12th 2009. They are collecting the money so that their family members can purchase a larger vehicle for the family (who already have 3 girls).  Each side of the donation box featured one of the quadruplets, Charity, Kyle, Kolten and Kayden.

At 2 pm the flea market ended and some of the unsold items were brought into the Center. The inventory keeps growing and volunteers are working to sort and organize it all. Summer items are being packed into plastic storgage containers and the winter and fall items are coming out. There is a lot of work to do and volunteers are always needed. If you would like to volunteer please contact Mary or Robin at the town office at 878-2772. I'll be working a the Center on Oct 17th, please stop by and say hello.
