Make 2009 the year to track what you spend and how you spend it. Maybe you already do, maybe you've become a bit careless and rounded here and there. Today is the day to start tracking every penny you spend to help put yourself on course for better financial health.
Where to start
It's as easy as a notebook and pen to jot down every month what you spend from utilities to tips. There are also a number of sites online that are free or low-cost that will help you in your quest for financial fitness. Here are a few personal budget software sites to get you started:
Mint.com: Free, easy and customizable for your spending, saving and bill-paying lifestyle. They even have an iPhone app for those of you who would rather log from the road.
Quicken Online: The people from Intuit now give you Quicken online for FREE. The best and most experienced in the business with fantastic community features to boot.
PearBudget: Simple, free and evolving.
There are a number of others that you can find online, but the above three are free and should get you quickly up to speed on where you spend.
Happy budgeting!
