In today’s society people are presented with an endless amount of options to improve their health from books, supplements, and more. It’s important for people to understand that each person has their own nutrition needs. Not one diet or way of eating is going to work for everyone. When experts say, “chicken is good for you” or “carbohydrates are bad,” it’s too general. One person’s food could be another person’s poison. It can be so overwhelming at times because of the all the options and advice out there, but there are 5 simple steps people can do to improve their health.
1. Drink more water: People always ask what is the right amount of water to drink. There is no right amount, but what is important is the to drink more water. Generally, more active and bigger a person is the more they should drink. There are other benefits to drinking more water like helping reducing cravings and hunger, increasing energy and improving ones mood.
2. Eat leafy green vegetables: Most times people get their leafy greens when they eat a salad, but that isn’t enough. Greens should be incorporated into every meal if possible. Greens provide such an array of nutrients to maintain a healthy body like calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, zinc, and vitamins A, C, E and K. They are also crammed with fiber, folic acid, chlorophyll and many other micronutrients and phyto-chemicals.

3. Create food awareness: Families and individuals are faced with a vast amount of options when it comes to the grocery store. It’s important to focus on the actual contents of packaged goods versus the marketing on the front. Those images and words sure do know how to attract a person to buy them, but the key is to learn what the contents are and what is actually going into their bodies. 4. Be active: The body is healthiest when it is getting appropriate physical activity. Although often people feel dread when they hear the word "exercise." People should take time to themselves and think for a moment of what type of movement they would consider fun. One low impact exercise that most people find fun is sex. Great workout and many benefits!

5. Have happy relationships: Each person has the choice to what relationships they choose to stay in, but often people settle for what is. Being dissatisfied with a relationship or friendship can cause emotional distress, which then can lead to emotional eating amongst other things. Create healthy and happy relationships by weeding out those bad relationships or by finding ways to communicate with them that are not as stressful. For example, maybe switch to a phone relationship or an email relationship. There is a way!
