It has been quite exciting to say the least to see such an old school classic like Doom make its way to the iPhone, and it turns out that id Software has a bit more planned. John Carmack of the software giant recently announced that not only will Doom Classic receive plenty of future updates as well as a lite version, but id will also release an iPhone of Quake. They are also currently working on an iPhone-specific version of Doom 2 RPG, and if the masses are pleased, they will most likely port Orcs & Elves too.
So for everyone who enjoyed these classic id games, keep downloading and leave honest reviews in the App Store. Carmack is planning on taking a step back from iPhone development in the future, but if he sees that these games are very well received, maybe he will change his mind and the App Store will receive plenty of other id goodies.
For now though, Doom Classic is currently available in the App Store for $6.99.
