Plenty of games from the action genre were released yesterday, October 14th, including action puzzle games, action arcade games, and action adventure games. The key word is action. Mixed within all the action are a few non-action puzzle games, a typing game, a board game, a nightclub simulator and a card game. There may not be something for everybody with this list, but very few people will not find anything intriguing.
APOLLO KIDS: PRISON DROPS ($1.99) - The Original Sparm has captured many storybook characters, and only the Apollo Kids can save them. Help them do so by trying to create as long of a chain reaction as possible.
Cash Cow ($.99) - Help Buck the Cow try to save the farm by counting coins to match the monetary goals of each level.
Coretex (free) - A nuclear reactor is about to blow unless the the uranium rods can be cooled in time. Players control the core inspection robot to reduce the core's temperature in an action/puzzle manner.
Dark Nebula - Episode One ($.99) - Tilt the iPhone to maneuver the way through ten action-packed levels of stunning graphics and pure peril.
Flamingo Shooter ($.99) - Tilt the iPhone to aim and then tap to shoot at the flamingoes flying by in two game modes: time trial or 60 bullets.
Frog Jumping Adventure ($1.99) - Help the frog prince leap through levels of obstacles to find the princess that will restore his humanity.
Flatspace ($2.99) - In this distant future, the vast expansion of space has caused the planets to no longer be able to hold their forms, forcing humans to reside in space stations. Players can take on the role of a Trader, Scavenger, Mercenary, Bounty Hunter, Space Pirate or Police Officer and can play the game however they like. They can explore the massive, open world, trade goods, mine asteroids, kill bounties, or destroy everything in sight.
Fun Gun ($.99) - This sniper game allows players to shoot at anything they can see through their iPhone cameras. Sorry, iPod Touch owners.
Go Home!! ($1.99) - Try to help three colored circles go home in the midst of a pile of black circles using physics controls.
Ladybug Dreams ($1.99) - In a Pac-Man style but with far better graphics, players must guide a ladybug through various levels to eat all of the aphids while avoiding other predator bugs that would like to snack on her just as much.
Mahjongg Artifacts ($2.99) - This prequel to Mahjongg Artifacts: Chapter 2 offers a story mode with 25 levels and a classic mode with 100 levels of pure mahjong goodness.
Minefield (free) - Use a virtual d-pad to get a soldier across a minefield without tripping any mines.
Neo Tic Tac Toe ($.99) - It's tic tac toe, but instead of Xs and Os, players use brightly colored gems.
Nightclub Fever ($2.99 or free for lite version) - Try to build the hottest nightclub in over 50 locations all over the world, including LA, Rio, and London. Players must manage every aspect of the club, from buying lighting and dance floors to hiring DJs and picking out the music.
ProSkat ($4.99) - The international card game of Skat is now available on the iPhone, and for quite the hefty price.
PuzzMon ($1.99) - Similarly to InkBalloons, this match-3 puzzle game sets out a mission of how many of each monster needs to be beaten to advance the level.
Rune Match ($.99) - Eliminate adjacent pairs of runes as they appear on the board. Players cannot swap the runes, but as pairs are eliminated, the runes will fall into new spaces.
Space Gems ($.99) - It's Blue Block, but instead of blocks, there are gems. Oh, and it takes place in space.
Sushi Block ($.99) - This take on the brick breaker game is rather hysterical. Players still use a ball to break bricks, but the bricks are pieces of sushi and the paddle is a chopstick.
Touch Touch Typing ($3.99) - Learn how to type kanji from hiragana with ease. Even though the game has a training mode, there appears to be no English in this game, so it's most likely not for beginners to the Japanese language. For $3.99, it's not worth it to find out.
