The Queen Mary in Long Beach.

Maersk Captain Richard Phillips was being interviewed on The Today Show when he was asked about the conditions of the lifeboat he was held captive on. "It was no Queen Mary " was the response from the heroic captain that was held hostage by Somali pirates.

The Queen Mary extended an invitation to the captain and his family to visit the historic ship, and upon his arrival was greeted by the staff with a champagne toast and invitation-only luncheon held in his honor, where an award was given to him by the office of Council Woman Janice Hahn on behalf of the city of Los Angeles.

The Queen Mary is a must-see Southern California attraction that is not only an art deco hotel, but home to a variety of tours, shopping and world-class dining. 

The five day trip  for the captain and his family also included a visit to Disneyland, Universal Studios, Downtown LA & Hollywood, Aquarium of the Pacific and a visit to the beach.
