Linda Ashman’s books have been included on the “Best Books of the Year” of Parenting, Child, and Cookie magazines!

One of the Denver areas best children authors, Linda Ashman, recently visited our school. Ms. Ashman graciously shared her books and wisdom about writing with our students; with a gentle voice, smile and unending patience she answered questions as she gave everyone a desire to write.

Linda Ashman spoke with the knowledge of an award-winning author of numerous children’s books. Her honors and awards range from N.Y. Library’s 100 Books for Reading & Sharing to Colorado Book Award for Children’s Literature. Linda has had almost twenty books published since 2001 and many more planned, with just about as many awards.

Ms. Ashman brings a rich life to her writing. She was born in New York, holds degrees in Economics and Urban Planning. She has worked as a real estate market analyst, for social and environmental organizations, and thankfully a children’s book author. She moved to Denver from Los Angeles with her husband, son and dogs.

Children are drawn to her books because when you open a Linda Ashman book, your senses are awakened by her words. Filled with humor that both a child and their special adult they are reading with can appreciate. She might be writing about a smelly farmer in a thirteenth-century castle, or from the world of an opinionated dog, or even an alphabet full of naughty children. Whatever her subject, her writing is fun, filled with clever banter, and extremely charming.
