
The Brit rocker who popularized "Yellow" will turn the same color this fall, as he visits the town of Springfield.
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and the band will lend voices to the 21st season of The Simpsons. On the episode they make a cameo, Homer wins the lottery and hires Coldplay to give a private performance for Bart. A newly rich Homer commands the band to stop playing every time Bart has to go to the bathroom.
The long-running cartoon has a rich history of using celebrity voices, actually holding a Guinness Record for most celebrity voiceovers in an animated series. Other celebrity guests for the upcoming season include Oscar-nominated actress Anne Hathaway, football brothers Eli and Peyton Manning and comedian Sarah Silverman.
Musicians have been particularly important celebrity guests, many becoming immortalized as their Springfield equivalents. Past musical guests include the late Michael Jackson (one of the show’s first musical guests, Jackson played a mental patient), Green Day (appearing in The Simpsons Movie), and a trio of Beatles: Ringo Starr, George Harrison and Paul McCartney. Also rocking out in Springfield were U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Aerosmith.
