Americans Meryl Davis and Charlie White had another dominating performance in the free dance today, winning the NHK Trophy and becoming the first dance team to secure a spot in the Grand Prix Final. With a final total that was over 23 points ahead of the second place team, they are continuing to stampede their competition this season. There was no change in the top four from the original dance standings after the free dance.

As they have been during their first two competitions this season, Davis and White were spectacular in their Phantom of the Opera free dance, showcasing their incredibly speed and ease of movement across the ice. Their average Program Components Score (PCS) was in the mid- to high-8s, and every element in their free dance received positive Grades of Execution (GOE) from each of the nine judges. With a free dance score of 100.79 and a total score of 201.97, they now hold the three highest free dance and total scores achieved this season.

British champions Sinead Kerr and John Kerr picked up their first career Grand Prix silver medal with their effort in Nagano. Their score of 177.73 was their highest of the season, having improved with every competition. With their bronze medal at Trophee Eric Bompard, they have put themselves in contention to qualify for the Grand Prix Final.

Canadian silver medalists Vanessa Crone and Paul Poirier finished strongly with a free dance that came close to beating that of the silver medalists. Their bronze medal is their second Grand Prix medal in their young career. The second American team, Jane Summerset and Todd Gilles, finished in tenth place.
