Baltimore is known for embracing home grown, world class musicians.  Every now and then, an outsider comes in and shakes the very core of the indie scene. Thanks to the power of the internet, this can now happen with out an artist leaving their home.  Even when the artist is over 7,600 miles away.

J. Ryan, originally born in India, has developed a sound that on certain songs, combines the flair of David Bowie with the modern pop/rock sound of Coldplay. Other songs can leave you in a world of reminiscent of Pink Floyd meets 1980's electro pop.

Ryan sprang into the music scene at the age of 13.  He sang in various organized gigs in India. By 17, he knew he wanted to do more than sing. Acoustic guitar in hand, Ryan began to teach himself how to play.

Now living in Katmandu, Nepal, J. Ryan has started to create a worldwide buzz around his music.

His new song "Zoe" has been featured on streaming internet radio stations and made it all the way to the semi finals for the Babelgum Music Video Awards.

Still in his prime, Ryan has built the resume of a 60 year career musician and it looks like he has no plans of stopping anytime soon.  You can hear all of J. Ryan's original music here.  Take a second to scroll through his site and you'll also find amazing covers including "Streets of Philadelphia" and "Drive".
