FETZER OUTLINES GAME PLAN FOR ATTAINING NCGOP CONSERVATIVE VICTORIES

NCGOP State Chairman Tom Fetzer was keynote speaker at a recent function held by the Pender County Republican Party in Hampstead.

Frank Williams, 7th District GOP chairman, attended the Hampstead session, which he said “attracted a strong crowd of enthusiastic conservatives who are committed to electing candidates who will restore common sense to our government.”

Williams reported Fetzer’s comments about what must be done to generate conservative Republican victories in 2010:

1. In those races where we have contested primaries, we must scrutinize our candidates. This will ensure that we have a clear picture of who the candidates are, what they believe and how they will conduct themselves if elected. Additionally, this will ensure that our candidates are battle-tested and better prepared for the general election. Finally, this is our chance to ensure that the candidates who carry our party’s banner in November truly share our principles.

2. We must build strong, effective party organizations on the ground in our precincts.

3. After the primary, our precinct and party organizations must be focused on getting Republican voters to the polls.

4. After the primary, we must ensure that our party and our candidates have the resources needed to communicate our message to voters.

5. Finally, once the primary is over we must unite and focus on the main thing: electing our candidates in November. This election is too important for us to be distracted from that core mission.

GOP District 7 Chairman Williams concluded: “As Chairman Fetzer has said on numerous occasions, we must be ‘One Team with One Goal: Victory in 2010.’”

BREAZEALE CAMPAIGN STAFF REACHES OUT TO VETERANS IN DUPLIN COUNTY EVENT

Jack Stanton, a former guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, discussed the decorated military career of Will Breazeale, citing the Republican’s views on key issues in his run for the U.S. Congress in the Seventh Congressional District.

“It’s always an honor to be able to spend time with my fellow veterans,” said Stanton. “To be able to do so while talking about the credentials of an honorable soldier like Major Breazeale makes the evening twice as enjoyable.”

Stanton is part of a cast of volunteers who are appearing on Breazeale’s behalf as he completes his mandatory Army Reserve duty in Carlisle Barracks, PA. Breazeale is scheduled to be back on the campaign trail on Saturday, March 13, 2010.

“Will Breazeale is a pretty easy guy to talk about. Whether it’s his three tours of duty, winning the Bronze Star, or his intense involvement in high level negotiations that are helping us secure victory in Iraq, the Major is a treasure chest of accomplishments,” observed Stanton.

MICHAEL STEELE VOWS TO REVITALIZE GOP FORTUNES IN NORTH CAROLINA

National Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele vowed to reclaim North Carolina for his party Monday and introduced a TV ad seeking to build support for the GOP brand in the state.

"Nancy Pelosi and President Obama and Harry Reid have certainly lost their mind when it comes to spending the people's money," Steele told about 60 supporters at an Embassy Suites hotel in Greensboro.

"All of us have a large stake in what happens next, whether it's health care, or job creation, or whether it's how we educate our kids, or how we run our small businesses," Steele said.

The TV ad will run for three weeks on the Fox affiliate in the Triad. The ad asks people who are concerned that "President Obama and Nancy Pelosi are experimenting with America" to become engaged with the Republican Party.

Similar ads are being run in strong Republican markets in West Palm Beach, Fla., and Cincinnati and Tulsa and Oklahoma City, Okla. The ad features Steele talking to the camera and was produced by Mark Stephens, a Raleigh-based political consultant.

Steele told reporters that he is determined to win back North Carolina after the state surprised many by voting for Obama in 2008.

He said the re-election of U.S. Sen. Richard Burr would be both "a challenge" and "an opportunity."
Steele said he spends a lot of time in North Carolina because his son is a student at Elon University.

PANTANO UNVEILS PLATFORM FOR ENERGY INDEPENDENCE, WAR ON TERROR

Ilario Pantano, conservative candidate for U.S. Congress in North Carolina’s Seventh Congressional District, continues to release position papers on key issues in the campaign, which will be settled in the May 4 primary.

These points summarize his views on achieving energy independence for the U.S.:

U.S. addiction to foreign oil drives tens of billions of dollars out of our country every year and directly funds the efforts of people who are sworn to kill us. We are subisizing our enemies while leaving our citizens vulnerable to oil price shocks and supply disruptions that can bring our economy to halt with 5$ gas.

America must lead the charge on alternative energy technologies. Given surging global demand for energy, America must protect its position of economic strength by leading the world in pioneering alternative energy sources. Already, the United State's edge in solar panel and wind power turbine production has been eroded by Chinese investment and focus.

Pantano asserts that we must fight the ideology that uses terrorism as a tool:

In order to defeat this terrorist threat we must be honest about the roots in radical Islam, about its funding source of oil, and its intent of defeating the West. Choosing to ignore the obvious and be politically correct may keep terrorists from being personally offended but it will certainly lead to needless deaths like those at Ft. Hood.

Stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. It has been clear that radical Islam is the enemy since America's first clash during Iran's Islamic revolution in 1979. Thirty years later, while China and Russia continue to facilitate Iran's weaponization and thwart US efforts to halt it, we must be prepared to take any actions necessary to ensure that nuclear weapons do not proliferate throughout the middle east.

We must fight the war of ideas like a real war, because it is very clear what happens if we lose. We must remain on the offensive and keep our enemies on their heels and on the run. We can protect our country and out citizens if would-be aggressors are left with no doubt of the outcome of any conflict with us.
