StrikeForce: Fedor vs. Rogers predictions
StrikeForce is airing its first card on CBS on Saturday night, which sees the return of Fedor Emelianenko after his contract negotiations with the UFC fell through after the demise of Affliction. Taking on the last emperor this time is Brett Rogers, a man who has risen from obscurity to become one of the top ten heavyweights in the world in a little under three years of fighting.
ite in this one is Fedor and rightly so. Despite getting an impressive scalp in Andrei Arlovski, Brett Rogers hasn't shown much else than powerful striking in his career so far, and that doesn't bode well against the most well rounded fighter in the division. It isn't necessarily that he doesn't have any submissions for example, just that he hasn't ever shown himself to, and while he might be learning submissions at the moment, Fedor has some of the best in the weight class. Fedor has advantages in almost every area of the fight, and barring a lucky one punch KO from Rogers, Fedor should make short work of him. Fedor via TKO round 1
championship. Miller is the bigger of the two fighters, and can take a lot of punishment even in defeat. Shields has a habit of setting a furious pace initially, but tiring in the later rounds, which is something Miller doesn't. Jiu jitsu is a strength for both, with Shields probably the better, but I don't see either getting a submission. The difference in this fight might well come from the fact that Shields tires late on and Miller can take advantage. Expect Shields to be on top during the early rounds, but for Miller to rally late for a stoppage. Miller via TKO round 5
