The cozy interior of The Camden Head

On a surprisingly warm Autumn Saturday, Upper Street can become a bit of a nightmare.  So when the yuppies and puppies and prams (oh my!) become a bit much, pop back onto Camden Walk for a bit of antiques shopping and a nice pint at The Camden Head.

If you're up for a chilly chin-wag, grab a seat outside and nurse a pint of stout to keep your insides warm.  Or better yet, order yourself a jacket potato– they're a bit wee, but hearty nonetheless, and boy do they hit the spot on a brisk day.

If the weather's a bit too nippy, pull up a bench inside, where the friendly bar staff will pour you a pint of one of their best Cornish ales, (served alongside the more usual suspects: London Pride, Tribute, Leffe, etc) and call down to the kitchen for a nice steak and ale pie.

The Camden Head houses an interesting blend of people; the young, student-y bartenders serve yuppie locals, older tourists, and middle-aged ladies popping in for a quick chat.  Perk up your ears and you might hear such musical languages as Italian, French, and Spanish, alongside the usual American accents, which you seem to find everywhere in London these days.

In all, this traditionally charming pub is a right haven from the bustle of Upper Street cafes, and a solid choice for a pint and a pie.
