Elisabeth Hasselbeck says 9/11 trial will provoke terrorist attack
Conservative shrew Elisabeth Hasselbeck's head looked like it might explode during Tuesday morning's 'Hot Topics' portion of The View when the discussion turned to the 9/11 trial that may bring the suspected terrorists responsible for the World Trade Center attacks to New York City.
Joy Behar rationally weighed both sides of the argument: "On the one hand, you wanna see what's gonna happen. On the other hand, I'm afraid of what will happen because of it."
"Listen," she sputtered frantically. "This is not a show. Most people don't want to see this because it will do nothing but bring danger to this world. Those terrorists want it. They were so lucky--the fact that we caught what they did on tape. Now knowing it's gonna be video-ed all over, they're gonna do it again."
Joy Behar tried to contextualize Hasselbeck's hysteria: "She's very upset," said Joy Behar. "This morning she's telling me she wants to move out of New York City."
Elisabeth Hasselbeck snapped back at Behar to keep things discussed backstage off the air.
"Oh calm down," said Behar in a tone that would've made Fred Armisen proud of his own impression. "We all want to more out of the city when we're scared of terrorism."
Tensions have remained strained between Behar and Hasselbeck in subsequent episodes.
