Starting this January, Baltimore, Maryland is celebrating one of its most famous former residents. Baltimore includes one of Poe’s former residences and his gravesite as well as many other historical sites related to the great authors life.
 
Poe accomplished much in his thirty-nine years. Edgar Allen Poe became of America’s best known writers. He is known for being the first writer to effectively compose modern detective fiction. Poe is also one of the founders of modern science fiction writing.  His chilling poems and short stories are read world wide. http://knowingpoe.thinkport.org/default_flash.asp
