Times Square drops the Waterford Crystal Ball every New Years. It is an event inspired by an old English tradition of dropping a giant ball every day at noon to help sailors and navigators mark the time. 
 
If you can’t make it to New York for the holidays-try Havre de Grace, Maryland. 
 
Known for it’s manufacture of duck decoys; Havre de Grace will drop a giant, wooden, duck decoy from a 102 ft Susquehanna Hose Company ladder truck ,at midnight, on New Year's Eve. 
 
The enormous ten foot by fifteen foot masterpiece owes Havre de Grace resident Jean Hiss for it’s creation. 
 
Bring your duck callers and cameras to celebrate as the feathery arrangement of lights wows celebrants gathered to ring in the New Year.
