As with any pop culture phenomenon, Fox's new musical comedy "Glee" is making waves changing more than just television.
Since it started this season, "Glee" has surprised viewers with its unique brand of comedy, matching up typical high school drama with musical numbers, flash, and panache. This magical mixture has created a show that is truly unique, which is why so many viewers love it so dearly.
Now it appears as though the show, which has received high ratings and viewership this season and spawned an album that has already gone gold, is impacting youth culture and Generation Y in a fun and exciting way.
"Glee" star Amber Riley told the Wall Street Journal that "Glee" has inspired a renewal in high school glee clubs across the country, and that it is having a very positive impact on music programs in schools.
She stated: "I can't even tell you the number of times kids have come up to me to say that they've started a glee club at their school.
"I think it's letting kids know that they have a voice, too - and if they want music back in schools, they don't have to rely on their parents; they can rely on themselves and make their voices heard."
However, it is still unlikely that high school glee clubs will replace high school football any time soon.
