Doing your gender justice: Afghan girls stand strong

In this time of uncertainty, instead of looking at what we don't have or are losing, let's take a minute to reflect on our many privileges and "haves".  

I'm not saying we can't fight to improve our status, expand gender roles, and improve ourselves and our society, but it's helpful to reflect upon what we have accomplished in the last 20, 10, 5 years.

In Kandahar, Afghan women and schoolgirls who were attacked on their way to school are standing strong by continuing to attend school.  Despite signs at local Mosques stating "Don't Let your Daughters Go to School.", school is open and running.  You can read more about the latest on the Afghan schoolgirls who were attacked with acid several moths ago in the New York Times article, Afghan Schoolgirls Undeterred by Attacks .
