In the past year, new car shoppers have shown increased interest in Audi, Ford and Hyundai cars and trucks. That’s according to latest Kelley Blue Book Market Intelligence Brand Watch study and Market Watch report, released today. The statistics compare October 2009 with October 2008.

Audi made the most gains in the luxury SUV and crossover segment, for its impressive Q7 SUV and Q5 crossover models. The uptick of interest for Audi was 39 percent.

Ford made the biggest gains in the non-luxury SUV and crossover segments, for the Edge, Escape and Flex and also for its industry-leading F-150 and F-250 trucks. The uptick for Ford was 30 percent, which included interest in the new Fusion including the hybrid Fusion, and the Taurus sedan.

The biggest gains in the segment that includes luxury sedans, coupes and hatchbacks was made by Hyundai, which has made headlines with its flagship full-size Azera sedan, its affordable Sonata line, and the hot new Genesis sportscar coupe and its four-door sedan sibling. The uptick for Hyundai was six percent.

The Kelley Blue Book Market Watch tracks interest on the KBB website, not actual sales, but even so, it’s a pretty good indicator of what’s hot and what’s not..
