Tesla Roadster dealerships open in LA, NYC, Boulder, London, Munich
Tesla Motors

Tesla may be driving its plug-in electric sports car convertible to a showroom near you, where you can drool, even test drive this zero-emission roadster that launches zero to sixty in an astounding 3.7 seconds.  Just bring a suitcase of cash, since the Tesla EV costs in the neighborhood of $125,000.

The newest Tesla Motors showoom opens in Boulder, Colorado, on Oct. 30th, as Kae Davis, Exotic Car Examiner reported yesterday.  It's a brilliant marketing move, since Boulder residents tend to be eco-friendly and green, and this is a green car.  Boulder, of course, is in the Colorado Rockies, and this is a green car belongs on winding mountain roads, preferably with the top down.

The first Tesla showroom opened in Los Angeles, and a second one in New York City opened this summer, just after the struggling start-up got an infusion of cash from Mercedes-Benz, which purchased 10 percent of Tesla for a bunch of millions.  Mercedes also gave Tesla the contract to retrofit the SmartCar into a plug-in version.

Tesla also has two new dealerships in Europe, one in London, the other in Munich, which opened days before the recent Frankfurt Auto Show, where a Tesla Roadster was on display.

The Roadster is quickly becoming the vehicle of choice for discriminating Europeans,” Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in a press release. “Many of our customers are die-hard European sports car aficionados who switch to Roadsters over concern about climate change and the dangers of foreign oil addiction. And some customers buy the Roadster simply because it will beat the Porsche 911 or Audi R8 off the line every time.”

I suspect that the Munich location is a direct slap at two Mercedes competitors. BMW headquarters are in Munich, and Audi headquarters are about 45 minutes away, in Ingolstadt.  Mercedes and Porsche are both in Frankfurt, generally regarded as the financial capital of Germany, along with nearby Hanover, and with a bigger airport than Munich.  But, Munich is at the edge of the Bavarian Alps, and this is a roadster designed for the open road.

So where do you think Tesla should open next?
