It's a slow day, I have a ton of writing to work on that prevents me from justifying a hike in Topanga Canyon, so in a lull time, I will meet a dare and write about Band From TV.

I knew nothing about Band On TV until I saw an ad for a concert at the Grove. I admit to being very skeptical about, well, tv stars playing music. And Teri Hatcher in general. But I thought it would be fun, plus Jesse Spencer is in the band and he's crazy hot. However, the crowd was so big that I couldn't even witness the comic antics of host Jon Lovitz, so I bounced and forgot about them.

So here's who's who in Band From TV: Greg Grunberg from Heroes on drums, fellow Hero Adrian Pasdar on guitar, Teri Hatcher handling vocals, her co-star from Desperate Housewives, James Denton, on guitar, reality TV dude I don't know about really Bob Guiney on vocals, Cashmere Mafia actress Bonnie Somerville, also on vocals, Jesse Spencer, rocking the violin, and Hugh Laurie on keyboards. So they have three vocalists and no bass player. Huh.

Anyway, they do it all for good causes: each actor picks the charity of his or her choice to donate to, including the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation, Child Abuse Prevention Program, and the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.  All proceeds from live concerts and record sales are donated. For more of the charities they donated to and info on how you can get involved, check out their website: www.bandfromtv.org or check out their myspace

Having watched their videos, I will say that the music is pretty much what I expected. Not really my cup of tea but definitely not bad, catchy blues and covers with everyone pitching in vocally, looking like they're having a good time. There's a lot of hand-clapping and Greg Grunberg handles vocals from the drums nicely, which is always tricky. Plus Hugh Laurie is obviously a good piano player.  It's clearly something good for families and stalkers of the individual actors to attend. Check them out live here. Each show has special guest actors joining in.

Also on the good causes list: tonight at The Avalon in Hollywood, check out Heroes For Autism, which features Band From TV and the cast of Heroes, as well as many other local celebrities pitching in to raise money for autism research.

Since Jesse Spencer isn't in the above picture, here is one of him looking hot.
