One small step for restaurants, one giant leap for Tropicana Las Vegas ... well, maybe it's not a leap, but adding two new eateries is a move in the right direction for the struggling resort at the high-profile corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue. The Trop is considered one of the last old-school Strip properties because it hasn't been renovated since 1985. New, post-bankruptcy ownership and management hope to change all that, adding a fresh South Beach vibe to the tropically themed hotel and casino.
The first newcomer is the quick and casual Havana Go Go, a coffee and sandwich bar located in the main casino. The convenient cafe offers everything from breakfast pastries to salads and pizza, specializing in fine roasted coffee drinks and traditional Cuban sandwiches. Havana Go Go is open every day from 7 a.m. until late.
More substantial (and more recently opened) is Bacia Pasta and Vino, which replaces the Trop's old Tuscany Italian restaurant experience, closed for almost a year. The new restaurant, open for a bistro-style lunch, offers straight-up Italian-American classics ranging from spaghetti and meatballs to Lobster Bucatini. Bacia is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the week and until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Tropicana's other current dining options include the Island Buffet, where you can currently get all-you-can-eat all day long for $24, the always open Player's Deli, and Legends Steak & Seafood.
