Zootoo.com has launched it's second Shelter Makeover contest and the competition this year is intense. With the failing ecomomy and more guardians than ever relinquising their pets, shelters are pushing their resources to the maximum and often operating in the red.
The contest was created to help raise community awarness about shelters and the services they provide. Hundreds of shelters are competing this year including a few from Colorado (The Maxfund No-Kill Animal Adoption Center and Table Mountain Animal Center are few on the list from Colorado).
The first phase of the contest involves the participation of zootoo.com registrants voting for their favorite shelters online. Online voting to determine to top twenty finalists ends March 13. The top 20 will become semi-finalist and visited by zootoo and it's advisors to narrow the contest to the ten most deserving shelters in the nation.
Once the ten finalist have been selected, it will be up to America to vote on zootoo.com to select the most deserving shelter in the country. The ultimate winner is selected in late April with the top twenty receiving $5,000 to $10,000 each depending on their final standings.
