Residents of Cobb, Gwinnett, or Douglas Counties that were recently affected by heavy rains and flooding and are seeking assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have until Friday, October 23, 2009 at 7pm to discuss their situation in person.  Local offices in these counties will be closing at that time.  The FEMA representatives at these locations are available to discuss the low-interest disaster loan program that is available to homeowners, renters, and small business owners.

For those that have suffered losses - please be sure to reach out to FEMA because you may be able to get assistance in rebuilding.

In Gwinnett County, their offices are located at Mountain Park Depot, 5050 Five Forks Trickum Road, Lilburn, GA 30047; in Douglas they are located at Heritage Baptist Church, 8800 Rose Ave., Douglasville, GA 30134; and in Cobb they are located at The Threadmill, Suite 120, 5000 Austell/Powder Springs Road, Austell, GA 30106.

If you miss the deadline for meeting with representatives in person, you can still register for assistance online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 800.621.FEMA or TTY 800.462.7585 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.

Flood victims can also obtain assistance from the Small Business Administration.  You can reach them by phone at 800.659.2955 between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday, visit the SBA website at www.sba.gov/services/DisasterAssistance or send an e-mail to disastercustomerservice@sba.gov for information and assistance.
