It's one of the few things that is high in fat, tastes great and is good for you - avocados - and I never met a bowl of guacamole I didn't like.

Although National Guacamole Day takes place on November 14th, you can ingest the green wonder all week long, November 9-14, 2009 at Zocalo Restaurant and Tequila Bar.

The week-long, special guacamole menu includes two flight trios. From Monday, November 9 through Saturday, November 14, lunch and dinner guests can dig into the following (served with house-made plantains and tortilla chips):

Los Moles del Dia $10

  • Atun - freshly diced avocado mixed with tuna, green onion, cilantro and an arbol chile-guava reduction
  • Chicharron - freshly diced avocado mixed with pork crackling, tomatoes, red onion, cilantro, lime juice and serrano chiles
  • Mole Manchamanteles - freshly diced avocado mixed with apple, fried plantain, grilled pineapple and toasted sesame seeds, topped with a savory oaxacan mole

Trio de Guacamole $10

  • Tradicional - freshly diced avocado mixed with tomatoes, red onion, cilantro and serrano chiles
  • Rojo- freshly diced avocado mixed with roasted tomatoes, roasted onion, and roasted red jalapeno salsa
  • Fruta - freshly diced avocado mixed with fresh papaya, guava, habanero chiles and walnuts

  • Salsa Class Mondays: $5 per person; also on Monday: $5 Zocalo Margaritas; half-price appetizers in the bar area 5pm-7pm
  • Tuesday: $25 three course prix-fixe; $3 Corona Light; half-price appetizers in the bar area 5pm-7pm
  • Wednesday: half-price bottles of wine; half-price appetizers in the bar area 5pm-7pm
  • Thursday: $5 Sangria and Citrus Cazuelas; half-price appetizers in the bar area 5pm-7pm
  • Friday: DJ Miguel Martinez, 10pm-2am; half-price appetizers in the bar area 5pm-7pm
  • Sunday: $25 Three Course Prix-Fixe; $3 Corona Light
