Open in 1964, Benihana began the whole Japanese dinner show/hibachi table phenomenon.
Benihana restaurants feature the Japanese cooking method known as "teppanyaki" - steak, chicken, seafood and fresh vegetables stir fried in front of your eyes around a communal table. The chain has added a variety of sushi and other Japanese favorites to its menu in the last decade, too.
