"Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!" will be the chorus as your kids sled down the hill of their choice in Cottonwood Creek Park. Make a memory and head down to Cottonwood Creek Park. It is located at 3920 Dublin Boulevard in Colorado Springs, Colorado. A very prominent and safe snow-hill exists in this very same park. I have driven around the city searching for other snow-hills but couldn't find any worth speaking of. They all seem to dangerous. I might sound a little wimpy, but I do have children. I don't want to scare the socks off of them, I want them to enjoy the winter season with their parents. I would like to think that most parents would agree with me, therefore I have found a safe snow-hill for parents and children (safest around in town).
Cottonwood Creek Park offers great winter recreational activities for the entire family at no charge. Families can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities like Frisbee golf, ice hockey, basketball courts, and tennis courts. There are even pavilions available at the park. I want to make it a point to state that this is a very pristine park, if I do say so myself.
If snow sledding is not your "thing", make sure to check out the recreation center. They offer a public skate and hockey calender, available at the main desk. They offer in door swimming as well with a slide, accompanied by a wave pool, all year long. The pool is also available for parties if you are interested. They are currently looking for volunteer coaches in the areas of soccer, football, and baseball, which are proceeded by a course for all volunteer coach's. The recreation center offers therapeutic recreation programs for all those interested. The pool does have a wave pool area which is "pretty cool", or so I hear from my 9 year old. You can find a spectacular playground for kids and space to fly a kite. There is a jogging path available for all those interested. As always, if you would like to drop me some comments, concerns or ideas please click here.
Take the kids for a safe snow-sledding adventure and re-discover your local area parks. Enjoy the snow and be safe this holiday season!
