Fellow inmates at North Carolina Federal prison say that "a shirtless Bernie Madoff has joined weekly 'Native American religious purification ceremonies' that involve prayers, heated rocks to induce sweat and smoking from a ceremonial pipe." The story was reported in Monday's New York Post.

According to Walking Eagle, a Karuk Spiritual Leader "No one who has been under the influence of drugs (including Marijuana) or alcohol in the last 24 hours is allowed in a Sweat Lodge."
