(4) Our AMA believes that the NIH should use its resources and influence to support the development of a smoke-free inhaled delivery system for marijuana or delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) to reduce the health hazards associated with the combustion and inhalation of marijuana. )   
On November 11, 2009 the American Medical Association Council on Science and Public Health Report 14-3 - Use of Cannabis for Medicinal Purposes reommended some policy changes. To read the text of the changes in Policy H-95.952 click here.

What caused this distancing from the position of many in the DEA, law enforcement, and medical communities who have repeated the argument for many years that there is no evidence that "smoked marijuana" has any medicinal benefits?
