2010 Sundance Film Festival expanded to 8 US cities this year

The organizers of the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah announced Thursday that they are expanding to create Sundance USA. Sundance USA will expand the 2010 Sundance Film Festival to eight cities across the country.
Robert Redford said: “The concept behind Sundance Film Festival U.S.A. is to ignite dialogue as people across the country engage in a collective film experience. It is an extension of the work we have done for decades: supporting the independent voice, bringing artists to the table and inserting art more and more into the social context of how we live.”
“We hope by speaking with artists about their work and experiencing the festival as it is happening, audiences will be inspired to share opinions, discuss the key issues of our day and reflect on the role art plays in social change,” Redford said.
According to the Sundance Film Festival website:
On Thursday, January 28, the Sundance Film Festival will dispatch eight filmmakers with their films from Park City to eight cities across the country to screen and discuss direct-from-Festival films with audiences. Tickets will be available through each theatre's individual box office. All films will be selected from the official Sundance Film Festival program to be announced in December.

• BAM in Brooklyn, NY
• Music Box Theatre in Chicago, IL
• Downtown Independent in Los Angeles, CA
• The Belcourt Theatre in Nashville, TN
• Sundance Cinemas Madison in Madison, WI
• Sundance Kabuki Cinemas in San Francisco, CA
