If she were any foxier she'd be ovulating

You can't put your finger on it, but for some inexplicable reason your girlfriend is looking extra shaggable today. "Damn, baby," you murmur. "Is that a new dress? Or did you do something different with your hair? " She smiles coyly and says, "Nope." "What is it then? Cause you're looking so fine that this hot-blooded American man just might have to skip his shift at Arby's." Her smile broadens and she shrugs. "It's nothing, really...just a little ovulation."

That's right—an increasing number of studies show that pumping out eggs can result in unique and penis-friendly behavior. A woman’s sex drive reaches its peak during ovulation (remember when your girlfriend flew across the room and came at you like a spider monkey? And you were really frightened but also strangely turned on? Ovulation).  A study in Ethology confirmed that facial images of women in the follicular phase—when the dominant ovarian follicle is getting ready to ovulate—are rated as more attractive than images taken in other phases. And a study published in Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin found that women (particularly those who are single) gravitate toward more revealing clothing and put more effort into their beauty routines during ovulation. Sometimes women who are ovulating also become more competitive with other women or demonstrate an increased interest in men other than their own partner, generally feeling more attracted to masculine pheromones. This is likely due to changes in the hormones estrogen, progesterone and testosterone.

So remember: If your girlfriend is mid-cycle and you're debating whether to stay home with her and watch 27 Dresses or head out to the bar with your buddies, stay home and watch the chick flick. Trust me—you won't be watching it long.
