On November 13, Denver stylistas will be treated to a fashion show hosted by designer Gino Velardi at Invesco Field at Mile High. Velardi will be featuring 100 designs, including glamorous cocktail dresses, evening gowns, suits and coats.
This show marks the first for the Colorado native since a stroke in 2006 left him paralyzed on the left side of his face. Faced with the possibility of his fashion design career being over, Velardi reinvigorated and recommitted to his craft, beating the odds to continue his dream.
Velardi's dedication and passion for fashion design shows from the start of his career. A self-trained designer, he was inspired by mother's impeccable sense of style. His natural talent and artistry can be seen in his versatile and accessible custom creations - fun, sexy, and elegant looks that are also affordable. His philosophy is to design clothing that women will feel comfortable and confident in, working with each individual's body type and style to express her "true self." He involves himself in the entire process, from the initial sketch to alterations, to ensure that his vision truly comes to life.
Velardi has been recognized for his work in a variety of media outlets and with prestigious awards. He is the Fashion Group International 2007 Rising Star Award Winner and 2009 presenter. He also is the runner up for The Fashion Project at Tamarac Square - a 4-week long local fashion design competition, modeled after Bravo's Project Runway.

A portion of the proceeds from the show will go to benefit Denver Dress for Success, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to "promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
