Recently I grabbed the TV remote at about 4:30 in the afternoon, flipped on my TV, and tried to find something to watch. Within seconds the first channel offended me. I went to the next one but it was immediately offensive, so I moved on to another. Within three or four minutes I had gone through all the channels (I only get about 8) and they had achieved a perfect, 100% rate of being offensive.
How is it that in an age of political correctness, when it is considered improper for people to offend others, that every TV channel can offend my belief in decency, courtesy, and morality? Shouldn't programmers at least make a mild effort not to be offensive in this age that prides itself on being non-offensive?
The fact is, programmers and network make money by being intentionally offensive to people who believe in Judeo-Christian morality. It they dared to intentionally offend any other group, there would be an uproar against them. I guess every society needs a group of people to disrespect. Our society has chosen to disrespect those who believe in righteousness.
Now people say, "If you don't like it, turn it off," and I wholeheartedly follow that advice. I am super quick at shutting off the vulgarity and disrespect! But every now and then I get the desire to watch some TV, so I turn it on, only to be blasted by sickovision.
It isn't fair! Why is there not one channel of wholsome, uplifting entertainment available nowadays?
