Henry Rollins being awesome
Henry Rollins being awesome
Creative Commons/ Aterpeirun 1/19/07

Henry Rollins may not really be metal, but he is one of Washington DC’s most unrelenting legends. The former Black Flag front man grew up in the area and was involved in a number of punk act’s in the late 70’s and early 80’s. He even was the manager of a Haagen-Dazs in Georgetown you can still visit today. If you have seen his spoken word, his TV show on IFC, or heard him on the radio, then you know he is one of the hardest working unknown’s in hard rock music.

The point of all this bolstering, is to relay two awesome bits of information; first of all Punknews.org has reported that the Flaming Lips are teaming up with Rollins to do a track by track interpretation of the most metal, non-metal album of all time Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. Whether or not the album will sync up with The Wizard of Oz is unknown at this time, but it will be released primarily on iTunes sometime next year. Second, and a bit more important, Henry will doing an international spoken word tour starting on January 12th 2010 in the UK and will eventually working his way through New York, Philidelphia, and Washington, DC. He is scheduled to perform at the Birchmer March 9th and 10th.

Get tickets early as this one is bound to sell out.
