San Francisco socialite Erik Proctor made his DJ debut at Gus Presents Social Club at Lookout Saturday, November 11th. The Marketing and Promotions Director of the highly missed radio station Energy 92.7, Proctor now has separate projects going for him, including being the Executive Producer of GayClubTV but guest DJ’s as Dr. Proctor on the side.
Dr. Proctor has been working the turntables for two years now. Though most DJ’s have at least 5 years of experience under their belt before headlining major clubs and events, Dr. Proctor has most DJ's beat.
Dr. Proctor said, “I've DJ’ed at the White House in Berkeley and great clubs in San Francisco; Club Eight, Lookout, Trigger, Mighty and BOC (Bar on Church)).” As impressive as his list of venues is, so is the list of individual events he has DJ’ed for. “I’ve worked Activate Fridays, GLOSS Sundays, Industry, FAME, and a number of Street Fairs. I’ve also done events to help the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and a fundraiser at Lookout to help fight Proposition 8.”
Dr. Proctor added, “I like to see people have fun” and the Dr. has exactly what the people need with his music style of “aggressive house” as he puts it.
“Gus Presents has asked me a number of times to DJ at one of their events,” Dr. Proctor says before starting his DJ set. “But there were always time conflicts. This time, everything just fell into place. Not to mention, I love Lookout. It’s a fun bar. “
Following Dr. Proctors set, Gus Presents Event Coordinator Edgar Dizon said, “We are happy and thoroughly enjoyed Erik’s enthusiasm and energy in the booth. His take on what tracks are important to today’s party scene are a testament to his ability to read the crowd. “
Though Dr. Proctor has been DJing professionally for a short time period, he has his eyes on FRESH. “For a DJ,” Dr. Proctor began, “FRESH is the Mecca for a DJ’s.” FRESH is held once a month at the majestic Ruby Skyy in Downtown San Francisco and is an amazing party that is attended by hundreds of partiers.
At this time, Dr. Proctor is not in negotiations to DJ at any other future events due to his heavy involvement with GayClubTV.
