The last time I enjoyed Latin Explosion, the party was held at their old venue, 2111 Franklin Street. The Franklin Street location is now Club 21 but still managed by the team owning Bench and Bar. Latin Explosion was a great party at 2111 Franklin Street, read my review to find out what I’m talking about. So, after a successful party at the old venue, I would expect the same at the new venue. Lucky for me, I was right.
Every Friday night is Latin Explosion at Bench and Bar. The $12.00 cover gets you into a hot party with gorgeous boys; a couple girls sprinkled about and an amazingly, comfortable venue. As the party has moved from what is now Club 21, the same basic formula for success is followed; great music + sexy gogo’s + strong drinks = a great party. Bench and Bar has improved on this formula with their new venue; the addition of VIP bottle service, a roaming waiter to take drink orders, more gogos and a gogo girl for the ladies, keeping the pool room open during club hours, an additional music room and their upstairs VIP lounge.

If you’re making your way to this amazing club, just a couple words of advice.
- Crowds don’t pick-up until after 11:30pm. This is normal for almost every club.
- Latin Explosion is a Latin party, meaning that the music and the boys are mostly Latin.
- If you plan to stay at the club after midnight - who’s going to pay a $12 cover and then leave before midnight? – do not park in the parking structure across the street. It closes at midnight and you will not be able to get your car out until later that morning. Bench and Bar Owner Charles Bisbee said, “We do not recommend that our guest park across the street due to the time restriction. Our guests should park in the parking structure on 17th Street and Broadway. It is opened all night.”
- The 2nd music room does play hip-hop all night but on this night, Friday, November, 6, the room was not generating much excitement. Actually, many people would open the door, see how empty the room was and then return to the main dance floor. After 12:30am, the 2nd music room did become packed.
- Paying $20 will give you VIP access to the 2nd floor lounge. Major plus is the private bathroom, bar, and lounge space. Downside, if you see a sexy boy and want to show him a good time, you cannot bring him upstairs with you.
- Gogo’s dance in the main music room and on the bar and rotate between the two locations.
