Thanksgiving Barbie Dolls

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, so it is time to take a look at the holiday from a doll's point of view!

I doubt when William Bradford issued the first Thanksgiving Day proclamation in November of 1623, that he ever considered the possibility of Barbie dolls dressed as Pilgrims being sold for Thanksgiving. However, in 1994, Mattel released a pretty Pilgrim Barbie doll as part of their American Stories Collection.

Pilgrim Barbie

Pilgrim Barbie wears a simple maroon dress with ivory cuffs, collar, and cap. Her matching ivory apron is trimmed with maroon bows. Pilgrim Barbie carries a basket of corn, and comes with "Feast of Friendship" - a storybook telling about her Mayflower voyage to America and her first Thanksgiving in the New World.

Happy Thanksgiving Kelly Club Set

Ten years later, Mattel issued the Happy Thanksgiving Kelly Club set which featured Tommy and Kerstie dressed as pilgrims (as well as Kelly dressed as a turkey). Kerstie and Tommy are absolutely adorable dress as tiny Pilgrim tots and are wonderful displayed with Pilgrim Barbie in Thanksgiving scenes.
