WaterColor Resort - Birmingham beach escape
WaterColor is a highly-touted, southern coastal resort occupying just under 500 acres on Florida’s prestigious Highway 30-A. Only a four and a half hour drive from the Magic City, and less than a dozen years old, WaterColor was developed by the St. Joe Company and today is managed by Noble House Hotels and Resorts.
WaterColor is a careful blend of luxury hotel accommodations and coastal cottages, not to mention a string of amenities. Here, you will find Northwest Florida’s only AAA Four Diamond Hotel, WaterColor Inn, featuring 60 upscale (and newly renovated) rooms with private patios or balconies, and either gulf or dune views. Interior design is noted to be the work of famed architect David Rockwell. Your WaterColor Inn stay comes complete with daily breakfast and use of all property amenities including the workout facility.
Larger families may pass on the Inn and opt for a cottage. And, while the cottages may differ in size and color, they all have one thing in common – luxury. Each unit is elegantly decorated in thematic fashion…reminding you of your location (the beach) and, yet offering a home away from home feeling. With full-size kitchens and laundry rooms right in the unit, you can feel comfortable watching the sunset from the balcony with steaks on the grill.
Amenities
WaterColor is a community of its own and encourages guests to walk or cycle to pools, the beach, shopping and dining (at the TownCenter). And, speaking of pools, there are several to choose from including the pools located at the BeachClub and those strewn throughout the cottage district. Additionally, the BeachClub (adjacent to the Inn) houses the spa, the fitness center, the gift shop, and the smoothie bar.
On-site clay tennis courts are a hit with athletes in the group. Take a lesson, meet the pro, and don’t worry if you forget your racquets, you can rent one there!
The BoatHouse is another fun source of recreation available at WaterColor. Settled quietly among the lake dunes, the BoatHouse offers the perfect atmosphere for water recreation via canoes, kayaks, sailboats or just fishing.
Got kids? Camp WaterColor is for you! Kids ages four to 12 are entertained with arts and crafts, a playground, water play features, and all sorts of exciting, organized activities. Your child won’t want to leave!
As for eating, cottages are perfectly designed for vacationers to cook within their units, but when you want to go out, look within the WaterColor community first. The Inn offers a world-class restaurant, Fish Out of Water, with impeccable service and mouthwatering coastal cuisine. A hit with the children is Hot and Cold (pizza and ice cream)…and with a location in the TownCenter, it is within walking distance.
Why WaterColor?Picture this – you awake with the sun peeping through your blinds and sip your morning coffee in a porch swing on the deck of your pastel-colored, greenish blue cottage. A leisurely stroll through the “neighborhood” leads to a pool or the beach where serenity awaits. Your stroll back offers a revelation of glorious pastel colors dotting the streets…no cookie cutter cottages here! A spa appointment is on your schedule, tennis in the afternoon…or maybe you’ll do nothing at all, but enjoy the blissful relaxation of a stay at WaterColor.
