7 Sacred Pools - Ohe'o Pools (Gulch)

Seven (7) Sacred Pools (there are not seven nor are they sacred) is in the Haleakala National Park off Hana Highway, approximately 10 miles past the town of Hana.  It's proper name is Ohe'o Pools or Ohe'o Gulch, but is known by locals and tourists as 7 Sacred Pools.

Entrance to the park will be on your left-hand side after you pass the 95-foot Wailua Falls at approximately mile marker #45.

Park Entry Is $10 per vehicle and if you are hiking the fee is just $5. The fee does include campground privileges for three days.  The Kipahulu Visitor Center is open from 9am to 5pm each day and additional information can be obtained by calling (808) 248-7375.

Seven (7) Sacred Pools is a network of fresh-water pools and waterfalls, and when there is plenty of rain upcountry the conditions are very good.  Pools are considered sacred by the early Hawaiians as it demonstrates "life" to the young and lets them connect to creation and the aina (land).

Hiking in the Kipahula area is a popular Maui attraction and this particular area is considered by many to have some of the best trails on Maui.  Make sure and follow the path that parallels the gulch and stream!

How to get there?  Take Hana Highway through the town of Hana and keep going!  You'll know when you get to 7 Sacred Pools!
