Many Missouri state parks are offering Harvest and Halloween programs this month. Here are just a few of the programs on Saturday, October 24, 2009.

A jack-o-lantern's tale at Onondaga Cave State Park
The history and traditions of Halloween come alive during a jack-o-lantern's tale, Saturday Oct 24, 2009. Learn about Halloween's past and present while you explore the true story of Halloween. Onondaga Cave tours will be scheduled throughout the day and the resident bats will be there.

Guides will tell the facts about Missouri bats. A special evening program begins at 7:30 in the amphitheater.

Come enjoy the free events, featuring crafts, food, and activities at Onondaga Cave State Park.

A Haunting at Montauk Mill

See bats, hear voices and see images of ghosts from the past, Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Montauk State Park. The past will be brought back to life at the old gristmill. Come to Montauk Mill for a rare night tour. Hear lingering voices of Ozark Pioneers and see mysteries of the deep. See historic characters appear by night from the long times past as real actors in the mill. Historic turn-of-the-century actors will be on hand as the event starts at 6:30 p.m and ends at 8:30 p.m.

Weston Bend Storytelling
Enjoy games and activities for the entire family at the park, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Activities include pumpkin decorating. Bring food and other objects to pin them to the pumpkin with toothpicks to put on your porch for Halloween. There will be free coloring sheets and word searches. A storyteller will be at Weston Bend State Park telling stories that aren’t always what they seem. Wear a family friendly costume and prizes will be awarded throughout the night.
