The BlackBerry Curve 8520
Research In Motion

The spotlight may be on the Bold 9700 being released on T-Mobile today, but don't think that is all that's happening in the BlackBerry world. AT&T wants some of the limelight, so they recently announced the upcoming availability of the BlackBerry 8520 and their own iteration of the 9700 in the next couple weeks, most likely before December 1st.

The 8520 is one of the more basic BlackBerry devices, with a 2.0 megapixel camera and WiFi, but no 3G capability.  It was first released on T-Mobile and was also the first device to include the touch sensitive trackpad.

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 is a stylish, easy-to-use, compact smartphone offering the best value for consumer and business customers looking for BlackBerry service. The smartphone features a full QWERTY keyboard and touch-sensitive trackpad for easy typing and navigation, built-in Wi-Fi® and an advanced media player, plus dedicated media keys, smoothly integrated along the top of the handset, for a convenient way to control music and videos. The handset also provides global connectivity via phone, email, text, IM, picture messaging and social networking, with Facebook® and My Space applications preloaded. (PR Newswire)

AT&T also announced earlier today that their 9700 is currently available for business accounts as of today, and will be available for personal accounts on November 22nd.  No need to get too much into what the 9700 has to offer.  If you're a loyal reader of the BlackBerry Examiner, you already know all you need to know.
