This weekend's offerings start tomorrow (Thursday, August 13) with a blast from the recent past, The Breeders promoting their new EP with a show at the Double Door, and local powerpop quartet The Blissters is also playing that evening at Betty's Blue Star.
If you're interested in checking out the squawky nouveau-punk sound of Art Brut, you can check out their gig at Subterranean Friday night (they will also be at the Green Music Festival the next day).
There are three fine local indie rock options in Chicago on Saturday night: Unicycle Loves You at the Empty Bottle, Sass Dragons at Ronny's, and I Fight Dragons at Martyr's.
If you just can't get enough of festivals, there is the eco-conscious Green Music Festival going on at Eckhart Park, whose Saturday lineup includes Tapes 'n Tapes and a second chance to catch Art Brut live in town this week and Catfish Haven and Murder By Death on Sunday.
Rounding off the coming week, check out the absolutely fantastic lineup of The Pretenders, supported by Cat Power and Juliette Lewis, playing next Tuesday at the Aragon Ballroom.
