Due to a strange confluence of events, I live in Vienna, Virginia. It is a perfectly nice town but far more suitable for families than a 30 something bachelor. Especially one like me, who tends to start and end the day on the late side.
So, naturally I am big fan of the town's very hip coffeehouse, Jammin' Java. During the day, this is a quiet spot to relax, meet people, or work on a laptop (they have free wifi as well) - all over a cup of coffee or a snack.
During the evening, the venue features live music six days a week. Last weekend, I caught the Danni Rosner and Justin Trawick show and have posted a few of my pictures from the show in the slideshow below. These were two impressive acts. Danni, like her music, is hip, soulful and jaded, and a little feisty. If you want to know what this sounds like check out: http://dannirosner.com and you can listen and watch the music video for her new single Jaded.
Next up was Justin Trawick, singing and playing acoustic guitar in an askew Superman hat and backed by an eclectic band playing electric guitar, upright bass, a fiddle, and a saxophone. To add to that, they brought in an accordion player and a preppy-dressed extremely animated singer whose intense eyes and flying dreadlocks made him almost as much fun to watch as to listen to. I do not think I could give a good description of their sound except to say that I really liked it. You are better off just clicking here and you can hear for yourself.
So if you have been to Starbucks one time too many or want to hear some good live music six out of seven days of the week, stop by Jammin' Java.
