Earlier today a small crowd gathered on the banks of the Potomac in Georgetown and on the Key Bridge to watch a planned explosion for the pilot of "Washington Field," a new television series from CBS Paramount. Many of the onlookers were disappointed. The explosion was slated to occur sometime between 9:30am and 12:00pm but actually took place just before 2:00pm.
By then, many would-be viewers had returned to work or moved on with their day. Others, who had waited for hours in some cases, were disappointed by the slight thud noise and short lifetime for the fireball. However, it's not everyday you get to see any sort of explosion up close so I did not mind a bit of a wait to catch a few pictures of this one.
