This Saturday, November 7, 2009 offers two fantastic activities for gifted kids who love to really delve in-depth into a subject.
At the New York Historical Society located on 170 Central Park West, your budding historian can get up close and personal with the Civil War re-enactors of the 57th Virginia Infantry.
The 57th was formed in June of 1861. After being assigned to the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia, the 57th would go on to fight in prominent military engagements until General Lee's surrender at the Battle of Appomattox Courthouse.
This event is open to the public and is free to kids 12 and under.
Then, at the Sony Wonder Technology Lab on 56th Street and Madison Avenue, the precocious engineers who otherwise would spend their day fiddling with your toaster, hair-dryer and DVD player, can channel that curiosity towards someone else's electronics - with a professional guide to keep them from getting a shock.
At 2 PM, kids ages 8 and older are invited to really get to know their PlayStations by taking them apart and exploring the inner workings of every gear and chip.
This event is free, but filled on a first-come/first-served basis. Spaces are limited, so come early to insure a spot!
