The sun moved from Aquarius into Pisces this morning, a day or two earlier than average. Many people with Aquarius sun signs will be celebrating their birthdays today, but even so, babies born at or after 7:47 a.m. Eastern time today (Feb. 18) will have Pisces for their sun sign and Sagittarius for their moon.
Pisces is the 12th sign of the zodiac and the one associated with the most mystical symbolism. Some of that comes from the fact that, for those in the northern hemisphere, the time of Pisces is the time that precedes “the beginning.” Spring will come right after the time of Pisces, when the vernal equinox occurs at the zero degree of Aries and spring begins with all its signs of life reawakening.
Representing the end of winter and the end of the zodiac circle, Pisces is also the formless yet moving waters from which all things emerge. Waves approach and recede, and the fishes of Pisces swim both ways.
Jupiter, the great benefic, is the traditional ruling planet for Pisces, dating from the days when only seven heavenly bodies were tracked in the sky – the sun, moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. Our days of the week were named for those same seven. The modern planetary ruler for Pisces is Neptune. Both Jupiter and Neptune are in Aquarius this year, allowing the Piscean imagination to be very tuned into the equalizing developments and technological shifts that will mark the year.
This should be a good year for Pisces people to play their hunches and act on their intuitions about the directions things seem to be flowing. In addition, Pisces natives are halfway through their current Saturn cycle. Saturn, planet of consequences, is in Virgo, opposite Pisces. Long-term efforts made in about the last 14 years, as Saturn transited the six signs from Pisces to Virgo, should pay off with appropriate results in the next 14 years or so as Saturn makes its way back to your sign.
