So you might be asking yourself, “Tea? Why is tea being reviewed?” I’ll tell you why: after hundreds of thousands of airmiles under my belt, I’ve come to learn one thing: it’s hard to find decent tea when you’re traveling. Sure, there are some places more likely than others to have a good selection (hi, Britain!), but I’ve become enough of a tea snob that I’ve begun traveling with my own stash to ensure that no matter which country I’m in, I’m ready for a good cuppa before bed.
Which brings me to Mighty Leaf Tea. I’m always skeptical of anything that suggests I deviate from my tried and true favorite (for the record, Good Earth Sweet and Spicy decaffeinated), but I was pleasantly surprised by Mighty Leaf. It’s not your standard chamomile and mint nonsense – there are actual artisanal blends that both taste good and have purpose. For example, their Green Tea has a tropical bent, with pineapple and guava. Yeah they have a Chamomile, but it has a citrus twist, so it’s not just the same old, same old. A competitor to my favorite, the Rainforest Mate, is both fruity and spicy, but not with too much of a kick. It’s also supposed to have a tonic effect, but all I noticed was a slight jolt from the caffeine (though please note, I’m more caffeine-sensitive than most. Looking at a can of Coke sends me into a tailspin.)
Not to get too TMI on you, but my absolute favorite flavor of Mighty Tea’s offerings is at the top of the heap for one big reason: it cured my cramps. After a couple of hours of agony on the couch, I decided to distract myself from the pain with some tea, and brewed up a pot of Organic Detox Infusion, described as “a luscious, detoxifying herbal infusion highlighted with clean notes of mint and basil. A spa retreat in a cup.” No word of a lie – three cups later, and I was back in fighting form.
Pick yours up directly from their website, which also features less travel friendly loose-leaf tea, and fun tea sets.
