According to Mammoth Lakes Town Manager Rob Clark, Mammoth Mountain Ski Area is currently in negotiations with Horizon Airlines for the 2009/10 winter season of flights to and from Mammoth.
According to Clark, Horizon is finishing up their fall scheduling and will now be looking toward winter. The negotiations are centered around more winter flights, with the possibility of two flights per day to Los Angeles, as well as a daily flight to the Bay Area and possibly one more location.
Year-round air service is still questionable as MMSA is only subsidizing winter service at this time. In order to be able to put year-round air service into play, the entire community of Mammoth would need to figure out to subsidize the additional $750,000-$950,000 it would take to guarantee the service in the non-winter months.
